"Patients have been overwhelmingly excited about the fact that, in many cases, they can get their porcelain restorations in one visit. They don't have to take additional time from work nor have uncomfortable temporaries. With a single-visit application, our patients receive enhanced comfort and overall health of the tooth." - Dr Sammons, Indianapolis Dentist

Porcelain crowns can restore the health and beauty of your smile by fixing such problems as broken down and leaky fillings, fractured or cracked teeth, and teeth that are badly discolored, by capping them with strong, natural-looking, ceramic porcelain.

At one time the only kind of crown was one of porcelain fused to metal. We try not to use this kind of restoration, especially on anterior, or front teeth. If at all possible, we use very durable all-porcelain material, because it illuminates the light so much better and appears more lifelike, as opposed to metal=backed crowns which bounce light back and look flat and fake. Also, you avoid that unattractive grey line of metal along the gum line.

The CEREC System

The amazing breakthrough of being able to create porcelain crowns in-office with the CEREC system has truly made this procedure a breeze for our patients.

After the tooth is prepared, instead of a traditional mold impression, we use the CEREC CAD/CAM system to make an optical scan, and then design the restoration on the computer right in front of your eyes. This is then sent to the milling equipment, and within a few minutes, the crown is produced and then delivered to you, the patient. No longer is there any need for temporaries while waiting for your permanent restoration to be manufactured and therefore, no need of a second appointment to finish the work.

This system also allows us to be much more conservative in the preparation of the tooth for the crown, removing less of your precious healthy tooth enamel.

One-visit crowns are an easy, relatively painless and durable way to restore your smile to it's full beauty and optimum function... giving you a real reason to smile again. Call our Indianapolis Dental office for a consultation about the benefits of this option.
