Our interests are in your comfort, your health, and achieving your personal desires for your smile. We’ll take a complete set of digital x-rays and intraoral photographs, which we then display on our large screen televisions so you can see and understand the condition of your smile.
In addition to your tooth and gum health, we screen for conditions that have the potential to impact the rest of your body. We take every patient’s blood pressure at each visit and give the necessary measures for follow-up care. Once a year, we also advise an oral cancer screening using our advanced Velscope technology.
Velscope is a cutting-edge tool used by Dr. Sammons to identify potentially cancerous tissues in their earliest stages. It's a simple, pain-free test that examines the lips, mouth, and upper throat in a matter of minutes. With early detection, successful treatment of oral cancer is possible.
Having healthy gums is a key to a healthy mouth and body. Approximately three out of four American adults are affected by periodontal (gum) disease. However, periodontal disease not only affects the teeth and gums, but it can also contribute to health conditions such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and more. Diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease is an integral part of Dr. Sammons' practice.
Dr. Sammons and our hygiene team chart for periodontal disease routinely during our hygiene exams. We are always checking the attachment levels between the gums and teeth, checking for any deep pockets on all teeth.
Treating periodontal disease varies depending on the severity of the case. In our office, we choose to offer a comfortable, non-surgical solution to our patients. Dr. Sammons and our hygiene team can effectively treat periodontal disease without the need for cutting or sutures.
Did you know approximately 25% of couples sleep apart because of snoring? If this something you and your partner are currently experiencing, you’ll be relieved to know there may be a solution.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) results from a collapsed airway due to an obstruction. Depending on the severity of the condition and a patient’s lifestyle, the symptoms may range from mild to severe. Sleep deprivation and oxygen deprivation, the two primary effects of sleep apnea, can lead to serious health conditions.
For many apnea sufferers, oral appliances can relieve most or all symptoms associated with sleep apnea and help patients get deep corrective sleep without interference. Oral appliances are a safe, holistic way to treat sleep apnea and can be custom-fit for maximum comfort. As technology in this area of dentistry continues to develop, sleep apnea patients have more practical and convenient options for the relief of symptoms.
